SONG of a LIFETIME

Debut Release Now Available

In September of 2008, the debut release of SONG of a LIFETIME was gloriously captured at Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY at the National Quartet Convention. Twenty-one artists joined with fourteen songwriters to present the first SONG of a LIFETIME experience to over six thousand in attendance. It seemed like a foretaste of Heaven as the event was further blessed by the participation of the incredible Atlanta First Baptist Choir and Orchestra under the direction of Rodney Brooks. The very first SONG of a LIFETIME cast was a literal Who’s Who of Gospel Music. It featured legacy songwriters such as Mosie Lister, Ronnie Hinson, and Kyla Rowland along side today’s songwriters like Rodney Griffin, Paula Stefanovich, and Rebecca Peck. The participating artists included The Hoppers, Greater Vision, The Booth Brothers, and eighteen others. SONG of a LIFETIME is a fresh, new approach for sharing the Gospel through music. Produced by Phil Cross, noted songwriter and singer, it is the culmination of a God-given vision that has taken several years to become a reality. The mission of this series is to showcase and celebrate the message shared in Gospel Music and its impact on people. The most important asset of Gospel Music is the very Gospel shared within the music. It’s God’s Word in song. Music is a tool given by God to be used by worshipers to praise God and proclaim His truths. Music was created by God and people were created by God. Therefore, the human heart was designed to be inspired and refreshed by music. We’re built for it.

At the heart of SONG of a LIFETIME are the songwriters who compose the songs that inspire people and impact their entire lifetimes. Gospel songs truly become part of people’s faith experience. When a song is birthed, the songwriter is the gifted one closest to the pure inspiration given by the Holy Spirit. They intimately know about the song from the time it was a blank manuscript until it becomes a complete work. The Gospel songwriter passionately pursues blending the right music with the right lyric. Moreover, they blend the faith experiences of their lives into each song. It takes a lifetime to write a song and what takes a lifetime can impact a lifetime. This is the basis for SONG of a LIFETIME, the Art and Soul of Gospel Music.

For the first time in the history of Gospel Music, the artists and the songwriters join in an unprecedented way to present a Spirit-filled, glory-thrilled experience that is headlined by the Message of the music. The very Soul of Gospel Music is shared as songwriters give the stories behind their songs. This spotlights the Message of the music in such a tremendous way that the songs become richer and more meaningful as the Art of the music is presented by today’s singers and musicians. Never before have artists and songwriters been so involved and unified in such a presentation. This series presents today’s Gospel Music in a fresh new way and is a powerful expression of the relevance of this genre in today’s Christian music culture. This effort is more than a product or a ministry. It’s a movement that invites and welcomes all who love Gospel Music and the Gospel it represents.
