Homeplace Records Recording Artists “LakeSide” Score Number 1 on Radioactive Airplay Bluegrass Chart

October 29, 2008

Asheboro, NC  (October 21st, 2008) - For the third consecutive week LAKESIDE, a contemporary bluegrass gospel group has topped the Radioactive Airplay Bluegrass Chart.  According to Charles Brady of Radioactive Airplay the groups RAA Number 1 SongYES MY JESUS LOVES ME” is wonderful blend of great acoustic music and incredible vocal harmonies from a group of guys that obviously love the Lord and love singing great heartfelt songs. The Number 1 song was penned by LAKESIDE member Andrew (Andy) Miller.

The group which was previously known as Southern Grace provides a mixture of acappella singing, contemporary acoustic, and of course, bluegrass gospel music.  LakeSide started playing in churches in East Tennessee as the Gospel Bluegrass Boys in 1995 and later changed their name to Southern Grace in 2005, as members changed.  In 2007 after members changed again they decided to change their name to “LakeSide”.   Greg, Gary, Eddie, Andy & Randy are all committed Christians who love their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and share their personal testimonies to all who will listen.

Introducing The Band
——————————————————————————–

Greg Blankenship ~ Mandolin

I play mandolin and sing lead & baritone for LakeSide.  I love to sing and play in this group because we all view it as a ministry to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.  I am a mechanical engineer and currently travel the world.

I have been to at least 8 or 9 different countries and I have frequent trips to Asia. I have played bluegrass music since I was 10 years old with my brother and friends.  My primary instrument has always been the mandolin, because no one else played it, but I do love the mandolin. I am married to my wonderful wife “Ann” and we have two children “Megan” and “Lucas”.  My wife and I are members of Vonore Baptist Church. My family is great; they are the ones that truly sacrifice for me to participate in this ministry.  I love the Lord and my family, and only hope that I will be able to continue the ministry provided by LakeSide.  The sole purpose of this ministry is to spread the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Gary Woody ~ Banjo, Rhythm Guitar, and Dobro

I began playing guitar and singing at an early age.  Later, at the age of fifteen, I began playing banjo.

I have performed at the Grand Ole Opry and have performed with numerous groups in the north Georgia tri-state area.  I formed a country music band called Dixieland Express who had regular performances in night clubs in the Dalton, Georgia area.  My life reached a turning point when I decided to turn my attention toward God.  Realizing that country music and playing in night clubs wasn’t what God would have me do, I set on a new path to worship through music.  I now sing and play for the Lord, something I feel very at home with.

I continue to sing gospel and bluegrass music while residing in Tunnel Hill, Georgia and attending Salem Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia.

Andy Miller ~ Guitar

I accepted the Lord as my savior alone in a motel room in November of 1996.  Since then my Savior has blessed me more than I can say.  He put a song in my heart and all I did was put the words on paper.

I grew up in a family of bluegrass musicians and singers but I never really got it until I fell on my knees that night.  After I got saved, I started singing in church.  In 1999 I was diagnosed with tongue cancer.

The surgeons removed over a third of my tongue and I thought I would never sing again, but God blessed me again.  It wasn’t long before I was back to singing in my church.  In 2001, my oldest brother, Eddie, died in a fatal car accident. He and my younger brother, John, were playing for Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike at the time. Music was my brother’s life.  His death made me realize that life is too short to hide your talents.  I started working harder to learn to play my guitar.  God certainly blessed me again in 2003 with the opportunity to minister through song with some of the finest Christian men I have ever been associated with.  I can only pray that God will bless me with many more years to lift up His name so that He might draw men unto Him.  I live in Knoxville with my wife, Tammy.

Eddie Morgan ~ Bass
I am so blessed. I’m  blessed to have been brought up by Christian parents , in a wonderful Church. I am blessed to have met a wonderful girl, Donna  who I have been married to for 27 years, and blessed to have 3 great sons, Nathan, Andrew, and Brett. God has been so good to me, and I know I am undeserving . I have been a Christian since I was 8 years old, and it gets sweeter every day.

I am a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City, TN, and am a member of the praise band there. It’s an awesome place to worship, and to serve. If that’s not enough, I am

blessed to be associated with this group, and have the privilege to play , sing and testify of God’s love for me. I don’t know why God has blessed me so, but I want to spend as much time as I can thanking Him.  Most of all, I want to thank Him for Jesus and His saving grace.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!!

Randy Terry~ Banjo

I play banjo and guitar, and sing lead and baritone for LakeSide.  I have been playing bluegrass music for approximately 35 years.  I have been married for 20 years to my lovely wife Michelle and we have two kids Mitchell and Bryce, and we live in Robbins, TN.  In 1989 I received Christ as my savior and my life has not been the same since.  At age 38, I was diagnosed with terminal heart failure, and I am a living witness that prayers due come true.  Six months later I received a new heart and I have been blessed to have had this heart for four years, now!  So when you are truly facing a tribulation, there is just one name to call on, and that is Jesus!  I have been part of LakeSide’s ministry for six months and look forward to many years.
