North Carolina Southern Gospel Singing Convention – The “Benson Sing”

June 6, 2008

The Eighty-Eighth State Annual Singing Convention will be held Friday, June 20, Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, 2007, in the “Singing Grove,” a picturesque city park, on East Main Street in Benson, North Carolina.  In 2006, important major changes in the weekend schedule and format took place. These changes are available on our website: www.gospelsingingconvention.org or, for details, you may call: (919) 894-6051 or e-mail: bensonsing@gospelsingingconvention.org

Many semi-professional and amateur groups will appear. The following groups will each present thirty minute concerts on Friday, starting at 7 p.m.:  Fortress, The Dennis Family, The Taylors,  Resurrection Quartet, Called Out, and the Trinity Trio.  (Order of appearance may vary)  There will be no competition Friday night.

Brian Free and Assurance will be featured in a concert at 7:00 p.m. (approximate time) on Saturday and The Triumphant Quartet will be featured in a concert on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.(approximate time)

As in past years, and continuing this year, informal (round robin) singing begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and continues daily except during competition or when host groups are in concert.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES:  COMPETITION IS SATURDAY ONLY with amateur groups including senior choirs, duets, trios, quartets, family groups, and juniors (in their combined division) competing for trophies begins at 2 p.m.   This year, awards will be presented on Saturday night during the 7:00 p.m. Brian Free and Assurance Concert and not on Sunday afternoon as in past years.  There is no competition on Sunday afternoon. Our new Showcase of Winners session will replace the usual Sunday competition.  The Triumphant Quartet concert will follow at approximately 3:00 p.m. (Please see detailed changes on our website or call if you have questions)

We will have morning worship at 9 a.m. on Sunday.  Reverend Leon Tart and Jonesboro Baptist Church will lead this service.
