Homecoming Artists Score Big in The Southern Gospel Music Awards

Asheboro, NC- There’s just no denying it, the success of the phenomenon known as the Gaither Homecoming Brand has been a real marketing force to reckon with. With record breaking sales of everything from music to music videos to concert tickets & special membership websites to the Homecoming Magazine to those crazy little lights everything seems to be coming up Gaither these days.

The secret joke of the Caraway Media Group staff as we entered into the final weeks of voting in The Southern Gospel Music Awards was the singing of “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” the only difference was we were singing “It’s beginning to look a lot like Gaither” every where you go! Someone suggested a big picture of Bill in a Santa Suit might be appropriate.

One thing is for certain, the influence of the Gaither Homecoming Family has been evident in each year of The Southern Gospel Music Awards but especially this year. The Gaither Homecoming Family presence was felt in almost every category.  Online voters have consistently voted The Gaither Vocal Band as the Number 1 Male Quartet for 4 consecutive years. (That’s EVERY year since we have been doing them for those counting.) And Guy Penrod continues his long running reign as the King of Lead Singers.

Other notable winners from the Gaither Homecoming Family included Jeff & Sheri Easter who won in multiple categories. Ivan Parker & Janet Paschal are certainly not strangers to the Gaither stage and America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music The Hoppers who again laid claim to the Mixed Group of the Year Award have been Homecoming regulars for a number of years.

Some of our staff joking referred to the awards this year as “The Homecoming Awards” based on the high number of winners that either currently or recently have been regulars on the Gaither Homecoming Tour. Even the winner of the Favorite Young Artist & Favorite Regional Artist award, Victoria Huggins, has been on the Homecoming Stage with Mr. Bill! Congratulations to all of this years winners!
