Legendary Music Producer Lari Goss Dead at 69

When it comes to men who have had an impact on Gospel Music few can rival the impact of the life of the legendary music arranger and producer Lari Goss. With his distinctive guiding touch Lari produced many of the top recordings of our day. I will always remember with fondness the time I had the privilege to watch first hand a master at work. I had been invited to visit the Hoppers in the studio as Lari Goss produced one of the best albums in the history of America’s Favorite Family of Gospel Music, The Legendary Hoppers.

The project was called “The Ride” and it produced multiple chart topping and award winning songs for The Hoppers. To say that Lari Goss had the magic touch in producing hit songs is an understatement. From his early days as a youth Lari was involved in some fashion in Gospel Music. He was a Grammy Award recipient and won numerous Dove Awards and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

In addition to his work in the Gospel Music industry Lari also orchestrated music for Capitol, Columbia and RCA. He also worked with many well known secular artists such as Glen Campbell, Ray Price and the Atlanta Rhythm Section. His musical arrangements have been heard world-wide.

The multi-talented Lari Goss was a native of Cartersville, Georgia and passed away on January 10, 2015 at the age of 69. His mark on the world of music has left us with a catalog of great music that is made much greater by his masterful touch. No doubt when the trumpet of the Lord shall sound Lari Goss probably will help in the arrangement because it will need to be just right! We are left with a tremendous void in Gospel Music but thankful that Lari Goss was a kind man who shared his skills with many others. No doubt his influence will continue to be felt and heard in the great churches and concert halls around the world as others scramble to create that “Lari Goss Sound.”
