“All Clear” A Life Changing Event For Sue Harris of The Harris Family

Scanning through the news-feed on my facebook page is always an emotional roller coaster ride. Every possible emotion from great sadness and loss to great joy and laughter at some silly video or photo. Lord I didn’t even know that Ernie Haase has a bobble-head doll much less that a cute little lady from South Africa took one home with her from a recent concert. It was an entertaining two minutes of video (about the normal attention span of modern adults these days.)

This morning as I scrolled through my news-feed something caught my attention. One of the artists that we work with at MusicToRadio, Sue Harris, of The Harris Family, posted something that grabbed my attention. It really struck a chord with me. I was reminded once again of what a miracle it is every day to wake up to a report of “All Clear.” Here is the post from Sue Harris:

Sue-Harris-300I’m sitting here in my quiet time this morning thinking about how differently my day would be today if I had gotten bad news instead of good news yesterday.

You see, I had to go to a “call back” appointment for further evaluation when my mammogram came back a few weeks ago with an “area of suspicion”. I was concerned, of course, but not worried for I knew that whatever it turned out to be, God would be there to walk with me through it. Thank you Lord that my faith proved to be solid as I faced such uncertainly. God is good. He is faithful, no matter what road we find ourselves on in this life. But praise God, I walked out of there with a piece of paper that said “no cancer….follow up with a routine exam in one year”. It was just a cyst.

But how differently my life would look today, if I had gotten bad news. It would have been a life changing diagnosis for sure. But as I was sitting here this morning, pondering all of this, I landed here: Why should an “all-clear” be anything less than a life changing event? I was reminded yesterday of how precious and fragile life is. I was reminded of how I must never take my health for granted. How one single moment in any given day can alter the course of my life…..and the lives of all those who love me. I want to live every single day in the fullness of God’s grace, serving Him and loving others with the health He has blessed me with.

I just wanted to publicly say thanks to God this morning, and to remind each of you of how much you are loved. No matter what we find ourselves dealing with by the end of this day, God is still God. Remember that. As I was waiting yesterday, the words to this Chris Tomlin song kept rolling over and over in my head. Perhaps they will minister to you today:

I know who goes before me, I know who stands behind.
The God of Angel Armies is always by my side.
The one who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine.
The God of Angel Armies is always by my side.

Have a blessed day!!
